Pulsar PSR 10 (1)
cal. Y301
Factory Spec. 10 SPY
Thermoinsensitive: High Frequency (196 kHz)
User Adjustable: No (pattern cutting possible)
In the early weeks and months of my HAQ collecting, I was trying to pull together examples of a fairly wide range of HAQ watches, being unsure which direction my collection would ultimately take. The PSR 10 was, despite derision for its lack of accuracy, widely talked about as being a nice HAQ to have and one that was quite sought-after, since going out of production. Then I found one on eBay. I bought it and was generally very pleased with myself. It wasn't in terrific condition, however, so I kept an eye out for another. I found one and bought it. The back was in nicer condition, but the bracelet turned out to be fairly corroded and missing some links. More and more PSR 10s turned up and I realised it wasn't so rare after all. I now have two of the things and have considered either selling the less accurate one, or taking them apart and making one 'good' watch from the best bits of both.
I have said that the PSR 10's rate is not adjustable, however the manual suggests that altering the rate may be possible by pattern cutting. Pattern cutting involves an irreversible snipping of tiny wires. The rate can be changed only by rather limited amounts, and the pattern can be cut only twice. In practical effect, then, I do not consider the rate to be 'adjustable'.
UPDATE - I have sold this watch.
Some details for this watch may be missing because it did not undergo comprehensive testing.
